“The Benediktenwand (formerly the Kirchstein) is a 1,800-metre-high (5,900 ft) mountain ridge in the Bavarian Prealps between the rivers Loisach and Isar and the Jachenau in the south and Benediktbeuern Abbey, from which it derives its name, in the north. Immediately below the North Face of the Benediktenwand is the Tutzinger Hut (1,327 m).

Mandatory: ankle-covering hiking boots and at least 3 L of water. Who doesn't have these items, does NOT join me on this hike. If you bring hiking poles, it's a must to put cups on the tips while not using the hiking poles; this way you avoid unintentionally hurting your co-hikers.

I advise to take food, rain coat/poncho, warm clothes, hygienic items, a fully charged mobile phone, a head lamp, disinfection liquid, and skin plasters with you for the hike.

At close to 1800 m above the sea level, you are bound to enjoy a nice hiking day to Benediktenwand which also offers amazing views from its peak.

I'm going to check the weather forecast around 36 h before the hike. If it sounds like rain, I'm likely to move the hike to another day or shorten the hike (to avoid climbing on wet stones). Around 12:50 h before the hike, I'm going to check whether we are at least 3 hikers in total, and if we are less, I might consider canceling or moving the hike to another day for safety reasons.

We start hiking in the dark. I hike up fast and down slowly. I will head down at 11:30 latest and start driving back at 16:00 latest, arriving at Gasteig in Munich at 17:30 latest. Co-hikers coming with my car may return with me or hike further and return on their own. Naturally, other co-hikers should feel more free to decide what they do.
