Here is a proposal for a relatively easy and scenic hike around the Murgsee lakes: https://wegwandern.ch/listing/murgsee-rundwanderung-wandern/

Fortunately the weather will allow this as one of the last hikes before the snow. We will already be in Winter time (UTC+1).

Planned for Saturday 5, with possible shift to Sunday 6 November, according to weather forecast.

Murg is easy to reach from Zurich in under an hour: HBf S25 Direction Linthal Departing 6:43 Arriving 7:37

I contacted the local Alpentaxi, who can take up to 7 or 14 persons in two cars, up to our hike start in Merlen (20 min ride). Price will depend on attendees, ranging Fr. 30 to 40/person for both rides up and down.

The hut is already closed, so I suggest each participant to carry own picnic for a relaxing lunch break.

I will likely take my own car. 3 seats available out of Dübendorf/Stettbach. Mail me after booking.


Good to know

Please check the hike profile before joining the event. This is a relatively easy ride, but you need stamina for a 5-6 hours walk.


Meeting point is Murg (Quarten) train station @ 7:30


Minimum hiking gear:


  • Hiking shoes (and poles)
  • Appropriate mountaineering attire for the Season
  • Backpack with Warm & Rain clothes, no matter the weather forecast
  • Hat & Gloves
  • Sun glasses & sun cream
  • Water & Food for picnic
  • Cash for the Alpentaxi (Fr. 30-40)
  • Loaded smartphone with Swisstopo or SuisseMobile App and downloaded local maps
  • Suggested essential First Aid kit

Hey Lorenzo, Looking forward to the hike tomorrow. It says meeting point at 07:30 - but the S25 arrives at 07:37. Will you wait for the S25 to arrive or should I take an earlier train?

Dear All, Snow melted off. It will be a warm werkend and not icy up there. Saturday will be cloudy greyish, while SUNDAY will be a gorgeous SUNNY day ☀️ In the interest of making this a far more enjoyable day, I al shifting it to SUNDAY. Hopefully the majority of you guys will be flexible and pleased. I just confirmed with the Alpentaxi. Expect to be back in Murg @ 16h. Thanks for your understanding.

Hi Lorenzo, I see that you commented no show for this hiking. To be honestI didn'tknow even if i had joined this event. There should be a mistake because I am living in Munich and it is not possible to register an event in Switzerland. If you can please correct it as i didn't want to join this even or even register for this event.
