Description

The Scheffauer (2111m) in the Wilder Kaiser is a popular tour destination due to the ingenious view from the summit . The summit can be climbed both from its south side (difficult hike) and from its north side (easy via ferrata A/B). Anyone who combines both tours in one crossing of the Scheffauer is rewarded with a scenic and mountaineering attractive round tour.

Route:

Hintersteiner See (890 m) - Walleralm (1171 m) - Hochegg (1470 m) - Kaindlhütte (1318 m) - Widauersteig - Scheffauer (2111 m) - Steiner Hochalm (1257 m) - Hintersteiner See (890 m)

Character of the Route: path from Hintersteiner See to the Kaindlalm mountain hike of moderate difficulty on partly stony paths, ascent to the Scheffauer via the Widauersteig, easy but at risk of falling rocks and partly exposed via ferrata ( A/B ) with partly unsecured climbs up to the max. 1st degree of difficulty, descent from the Scheffauer to the Hintersteiner See easy but strenuous mountain tour over steep, rugged paths with short, easy climbs (wire ropes secured in two places). Sure-footedness and a head for heights are required.
