SUBJECT TO THE WEATHER
Hoellental seems to be a popular venue so I'm going to join in the fun.
Here's the description of the route:
The photos are from when I was last there 3 years ago.
Note how some of the path is so this is not really suitable for first timers. Please also wear decent shoes.
Be at Platform 29 by 7:10. If the weather changes I may move this time forward but I don't really want to as I may end up going with Fred to Waxenstein by mistake!
We get the 7:32 train and change to the Zugspitzbahn at GaPa and ride for free to Hammersbach (we'll buy Bayern Tickets). I think I need to visit the ticket office to get the Zugspitzbahn tickets. Then not too fast to Höllentalangerhütte for a brief stop. Weather/time permitting we could walk further up the valley - but keeping in the valley - before heading back via the klamm entrance where we will still need to pay to get out (bring money - cash not plastic). Then walk down to Hammersbach and then train to GaPa and then Munich.
Usually disclaimers about responsibility apply - I'm not a professional guide - people who know me will tell you that. Also note that I don't answer my phone when I'm at hauptbahnhof (so you're not having my number) and I also don't have internet or messenger capability. Please if you are coming turn up at 7:10 ready to board the train - get all your coffee/breakfast needs before you turn up.
Note I can't answer questions during office hours 6:00-17:00
