This is a 3-day course in English given by Christoph Garber (professional mountain guide) & his team, in collaboration with Arc'teryx. Participants will learn important knowledge & skills related to avalanche rescue. You must have skitouring gear and experience. Read the entire description before joining the event.

Criteria for attending the course

This is a joint event between Munich and Zürich communities. Munich has 10 spots, and Zürich has 6 spots. 

• You must have skitouring gear & experience.
• Your Hiking Buddies profile must show 5 hikes with Hiking Buddies Munich. Non-hiking (social) events do not count.
• This is the Munich version of the event. 
• You must agree to have photos of you published on social media. A professional photographer will be with us.

3-day program

Day 1 -  Friday 9th December

• 16h00: Arrival & get together. Use the Carpool feature to coordinate the cars. Exact location in St. Anton am Arlberg to be communicated later. People choosing to stay in the Piltriquitron Lodging will have to go there directly. People staying at Pension Fallesin will first need to do the check-in and afterwards join the get together at Piltriquitron Lodging. The two are very close to each other (walking distance).

• 19h30: Dinner in town

Day 2 - Saturday 10th December 

• 07h45: Breakfast
• 09h00: Ski touring + avalanche training
• 16h00: After skitouring drink
• 19h00: Dinner in town

Day 3 - Sunday 11th December

• 07h45: Breakfast
• 09h00: Skitouring + avalanche training
• 16h00: End of the course

Costs

• Accomodation (2 nights): 80 to 85 euros / night / person (includes breakfasr). We have to use what has been organized by Arc'teryx and the guides. For coordinating the rooms, please fill out that Google Sheet.
• [TBC if necessary] Ski pass 1 day: 60 euros.
• 2x Dinner: Depends on your appetite, probably around 30 euros.

Gear Checklist

Avalanche safety equipment: Transceiver, shovel (metal only, not plastic), probe. This can be provided by the guides if necessary. If you do not have it, please fill out this Google Sheet.

You must bring your regular skitouring gear (it will not be provided):

• Ski touring pants
• 2 longsleeve or T-Shirts (to change)
• Hard shell jacket and (if you need) hard shell pants

How to sign up

1. Make sure you have the required number of hikes in your Hiking Buddies profile (see condition above).
2. Add a car or join a car, ensure a good communication & coordination with your driver / passengers.
3. Fill out the Google Sheet for the safety gear (if you don't have) and for the accomodation.
4. Amit Verma will ask your to confirm your participation with the prepayment of the accomodation. You have 48 hours after receiving the email to proceed with the payment, otherwise you will be removed from the event. Once the payment is made, please reply to the email saying you have done it, as it is not instantaneous. Should you want to cancel, you will have to find a replacement.
