Long and easy hike just before the start of Christmas holiday in order to enjoy the fresh snow of the last few days, some icy gorges and Christmas market
We start in
Garmisch Olympiastadion and we cross Partnachklamm (http://www.partnachklamm-info.de/ ) hoping to find already some ice formation.
After
the end of the gorge we keep straight direction Ferchensee and
Lautersee, two pretty lakes with great views to Wetterstein and
Karwendel.
Finally we take a detour towards south direction
Leutaschklamm a deep gorge
that runs through the mountains on the border between Leutasch (Austria)
and Mittenwald (Germany). It is here that you can see the impressive
result of millions of years of erosion up close. The most beautiful part
of the route will lead us along the steel walkways and bridges high
above the gorge.
We finally take our way to the historic town center
of Mittenwald, one of the prettiest villages in Bayern, where we have
the chance to go to the local Christmas markets (
https://www.alpenwelt-karwendel.de/en/christmas-market-in-mittenwald )
that are open only on that weekend and celebrate with a Glühwein
together :)
We will take the train from Munich at 07:13 and we will reach Garmisch at 08:23
After the hike and the Christmas market we will take one of the train back to Munich from Mittenwald.
We can have a stop for lunch on the way
