Description

The Wank is a popular panoramic mountain near Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Since the Wank is accessible by cable car, the extensive summit plateau receives many visitors in the summer season. It is most beautiful on the Wank in late autumn or in winter, when the cable car is at a standstill and the hikers are alone on the mountain. But a visit to the Wanks also has its charms in the summer season. The sunny ascent route can be done early in the year and already offers a wonderful view of the Wetterstein Mountains during the ascent. And of course there is also the Wankhaus, which is enthroned at the summit and, in addition to food and drink, offers a fantastic panoramic view of the Karwendel, the mountains around Garmisch and the Estergebirge. If you cross the Wank and descend via the Frauenmahd or the Rosswank, the Esterbergalm offers a second, beautifully situated rest stop.

Hi Mario, Alex is not able to go now. I would still be interested if there others who were booked for the carpool with Alex are willing to go via the train with a Bayerncard. Train would go from Munich at 07:13 and the return sometime after 3pm. with 3 the costs are the same. Its a 15 to 20 minutes walk from garmisch train station to the wankbahn. Do you know if the others would be interested? MARIO WROTE YES I would encourage you to travel by train in case there is no carpool left!

Mario, another driver here. The meeting time at Wankbahn is 08:00, and the meeting time in Munich for your car is 08:05. Where is the typo?

Do we need spikes? Any idea about snow conditions, given that its so warm these days...

I tremendously apologize, but chances are high that I might have to cancel my own participation within 24 h. I've already written to folks who signed up for riding in my car, and here the message to them again: they should probably feel free to consider moving to another car or even another hike already now.
