Description

This is a long scenic hike to the steep rocky wall known as Benediktenwand, one of the most impressive mountains in Bavaria, offering panoramic views of the surrounding region. We will pass by the Glasbach waterfall which is also quite a sight. I will bring my camera along and sure hope to catch sight of some ibex.


Good to know

Please note that this is a long hike and that I would like to complete it in 6 hours, which requires maintaining a good pace. I welcome your company but it is your responsibility to make sure that you have the appropriate fitness level.

Schedule:

  • 8:45 - we meet at Hbf and purchase the Bayern ticket for all participants who have shown up. Hence, please text me if you expect to be late or we will not purchase for you.
  • 9:03 - departure to Lenggries
  • 10:17 - bus to Jachenau
  • 10:45 - start of the hike
  • 16:51 / 17:51 / 18:51 / 19:51 (?) - train back to Munich

Bring:

  • Usual hiking gear (boots, poles)
  • Warm clothes. Temperatures expected between 0 and 10°
  • Spikes if you have. There might still be some patches of hard snow
  • Food. The hut is closed
  • Headlamp: we might arrive at night
  • Cash to pay for the bus
