Lets enjoy together winter hike from Marquartstein to a summit with a nice view

The viewing terrace of the Hochgernhaus offers a magnificent view to the south of the Chiemgau mountains and the Kaiser mountains.

From rathhaus and then from the hiker's car park in the forest above Marquartstein, we aim for the upper right end, where the signposted farm track to the Hochgernhaus begins. If there is a high density of tobogganists, it is advisable not to to take the abbreviated ravine, which shortens the wide hairpin bends. The path initially climbs moderately through coniferous forest, meets the forest path leading up from Unterwössen, which we follow to the left (if we haven't already shortened it) and then only climb slightly. At the next fork in the road we keep left, at the next right and soon reach the open terrain of the Agergschwendalm (1020 m). This is the end for many winter hikers. If you have already reached a nice stop, the view is not to be despised either.

we go left past the Agergschwendalm and then head for the Hochgerenhaus on a usually well-trodden path. The we go uphill in hairpin bends. At the fork in the path at the mountain rescue hut, we keep to the left and hike up steep hairpin bends - through increasingly free terrain and past the Weitalm, which is closed in winter - to the Hochgernhaus, which is in an open and prominent location. There is down-to-earth food up there, which we can enjoy on the terrace with a view when the weather is nice, even in winter; that can e.g. B. the Hochgernbrotzeit, which is served with a glass of schnapps, a lentil stew with Viennese or a classic Kaiserschmarrn.

Hochlerch past to the edge of the forest and on to the Kammhöhe east of the Zwölferspitz. From there, continue eastwards, briefly down into a hollow and in a right-left arc up through mountain pines to the actual summit structure. Via the free south-west side up to the summit cross of the Hochgerns (1748 m). The small miniature chapel faces on the small peak. The summit show from Hochgern is famous. In the south we see the Hohe Tauern with the striking pyramid of the Großvenediger as an eye-catcher, in front of it the unmistakable rocky peaks of the Wilder Kaiser, in the east the Loferer Steinberge, in the west the Karwendelgebirge and the Mangfallgebirge. On a clear day we can even see the silhouette of the Bavarian Forest in the northeast.
