This is a four-day (three nights) trip to Allgäu/Oberstdorf
All the hikes will be challenging and are not a good fit for beginners
Book accommodation and travel on your own/arrange with other participants (I'll share a link to the WhatsUp group when you register;)
The best overnight base would be town Oberstdorf (several of us will stay in Oberstdorf Hostel)
Planned routes (subject to weather conditions)
Start at 1pm in Oberstdorf Hostel - Gerstruben - Christlessee - Oberstdorf (5h, +/-400m)
Start at 8am, hike to Rubihorn (7h, +/-1200m, 600m lift option down)
Start at 8am, hike over the Seealpsee to Oytal (6h, +/-1200m, 1000m lift option down)
Start at 9am, hike to Laufbacher Eck (5h, +/-600m)
From Katie: “Spring is a very special time in the mountains. The region is not my “home” hiking grounds and the tour will be very explorative, fun and adventurous”
The order of the routes will depend on weather.
Travel & accommodation: The host does not (like "not at all" ;) arrange travel or accommodation. If you apply, the host will send you an invite to a whatsup group where you can arrange it together with other participants.
Some strong recommendations ;)
It will be a tour of challenging hikes requiring strong physical fitness, cheerful attitude to obstacles and having fun in the nature.
Good hiking boots, hopefully waterproof and with a good rubber profile, are extremely helpful as it is likely to get wet and slippery.
Dressing in layers, so that you can take a layer (e.g. a pullover) on/off is also recommended as getting up a mountain is always warm, but up there and getting down often gets chilly.
For this adventure I also recommend bringing a change of (old sport) shoes - for the unhappy case that you and your favourite hiking boots “have a fight”;)
Disclaimer:
Hiking can be dangerous.
This tour is not led by a professional mountain guide. Here individuals gather for outdoor sport activities.
Each participant is responsible for his/her own safety, has to be prepared, bring suitable equipment and ensure meeting the physical requirements.
Make yourself familiar with the routes and their requirements, download a map, bring a cell phone and a first aid kit for emergencies if needed.
