The Hike


We start at the Parkplatz in Forch and follow the hiking trail via the rural hamlet of Chaltenstein in the direction of Pfannenstiel. There the view widens: Üetliberg, Albis, Greifensee, Oberland, Säntis, Speer.
Via the forest path in the direction of Guldenen, we will later see the hamlet of Vorder Guldenen with a snack tent, where we can enjoy a good meal and the view of the Moorfeld.
The path then descends to the right of the hamlet, towards the forest, along the edge of the forest, slightly ascending towards Pfannenstiel.
We then go upwards towards Pfannenstiel Hochwacht: It is worth enjoying the view from the top.
Then the trail trail descends briefly to the popular Hochwacht Restaurant for refreshments and we turn back and walk back to Forch through the forest.

I will take pictures during the hike and will publish them in the group on Facebook. If you dont want to appear, please let me know at the start of the hike.


Transportation


Laurence and I will be going by car we can pick-up 2 people, either in Berikon-Widen at 8:05am, or in Dietikon, ZH - meeting time: 8:10am.

Otherwise I have indicated how to come by train from Zurich HB to Forch.


Pace


This is a slow pace hike. Some people will come with dogs.
(Slow Pace means 300/350m vertical ascent per hour ; 1km length in 30min) 


Food
Warm drinks in isotherm bottle might be a good idea as it will be around 7-10 degrees.
Snacks for the road - no lunch as we will be finished by 12:30pm.



Weather


Forecast for now is rainy. Temperatures around 7 degrees as we start, rising to 10 degrees after lunch time.
So make sure you take a few layers, as well as protection for the rain.
The path might be muddy at times, you might want to have poles.

Safety notices

YOU MUST HAVE proper hiking boots with a good grip, headlamp, warm clothes, rain protection / sun screen, at least 1,5L of water, and food for snacks along the way.
