Hi all, looks like the weather this weekend would be better in Switzerland, so I'm proposing to spend the Easter long weekend on the Britanniahütte.
From there different ski tour options are possible, depending on the current situation of the peaks and how we feel comfortable. Ideally, the plan is the following:
- On Friday we will approach the Britanniahütte (people from Munich must leave within 7 AM), the meeting point is at Saas-Fee (https://goo.gl/maps/KrAHwKfXzwmPUeuQ9) at 14:00. We will take the cable-car from there, and from the cablecar station to the hütte, it should be approximately 30 minutes of skin up.
- Saturday, Sunday, and Monday we will do ideally one peak per day. The possible choices are:
- Fluchthorns https://www.bergwelten.com/t/s/37729
- Strahlhorn https://www.bergwelten.com/t/s/21747
- Rimpfischhorn https://berghasen.com/2019/05/30/rimpfischhorn-hochtour-britanniahuette-wallis/
- Allalinhorn https://www.outdooractive.com/de/route/skitour/walliser-alpen/allalinhorn4027m-von-der-britannia/27823856/
Please, read carefully the description of each peak and download the GPX!
Message me before joining! :-)
No first-timers, and being aware of how to behave in winter conditions and on a glacier.
Material:
- food & drink for the days
- money (the hut should accept cards, but it has to be confirmed)
- warm clothes
- LVS kit (and know how to use it)
- Gletchier equipment (harness + ice axe + crampons)
- ski crampons suggested
- skitour stuff (ski + poles + skins)
- I suggest two pairs of gloves
- suncream & sunglasses
- hüttesack
- good mood
As always: sport in the mountain is a dangerous activity, I'm not a guide or a professional person, everyone is responsible for themselves.
