Route 3 Alpine Panorama Trail
The Alpine Panorama Trail from Bodensee to Lac Léman promises many views of Alpine peaks as well as of the Mittelland and Jura. The route leads through the traditional agricultural landscape of the Alpine foothills, still dominated by milk and cheese production.

Transportation


THIS HIKE IS NOT A LOOP - WE ARE ARRIVING BY TRAIN - HIKING TOGETHER - GONG BACK BY TRAIN FROM ANOTHER PLACE.

Laurence and I will be going by train from Berikon-Widen, arriving in Appenzell at 9:30am.



Otherwise I have indicated how to come by train from Zurich HB.

You make (and pay) your own travel arrangements.

NIGHT IN SCHWAGALP
We have pre-booked an apartment on Airbnb for 6 people (3 double bedrooms). We will split the costs.

4 places are already taken. There are two places left, and depending who wants them, Laurence and I can split and share room to help balance man/woman.

• If we are 4 - costs are about 40 chf per person for the night
• If we are 5 - costs are about 35 chf per person for the night
  
• if we are 6 - costs are about 32 chf per person for the night

You also need to add a bit for dinner and breakfast (will be provided by owner but cost unknown at this stage)

For those who don't want to stay in Schwagalp, the last bus leaves at 6:30pm.

Pace
This is a slow pace hike.


(Slow Pace means 300/350m vertical ascent per hour ; 1km length in 30min)

Food
Please take your own food:
- Warm/cold drinks in isotherm bottles.
- Snacks for the road.
- Packed lunch for lunch-break.

Cancellations
Up to 12 hours before the event (before 9:30pm Friday), you can unregister on hiking buddies website.

In case you change your mind in the 12 hours before the start of the event (after 9:30pm Friday), please let me know by WhatsApp/text message (+41 78 647 8829), so I won’t mark you as “no-show”. No-show means you will be restricted to participate in future hikes.

Safety notices



YOU MUST HAVE proper hiking boots with a good grip, headlamp, warm clothes, rain protection / sun screen, at least 1,5L of water, and food for snacks along the way.
