I got confirmation (via email), that the Coburger Huette next to Drachensee will be open again starting on May 30th. There might still be huge amounts of snow, but on the webcam pictures it seems like a lot has melted recently.
This hike is for people who don't have trouble walking for a long distance (at least 25km on one day), and deep snow. You should have some previous experience with rocky steep hikes. Please contact me if you are unsure.
A DAV membership or equivalent insurance is mostly mandatory, except if you contact me, and I know and trust you from a previous hike.
We'll take the train RE 4871 to Garmisch at 7:13, and we then take the Schienenersatzverkehr bus to Ehrwald, Zugspitzbahn at 8:28.
The plan is to reach the bus back to Garmisch at 17:03 or 17:35. Please don't plan anything for that evening.
It will get a bit cold probably on Thursday, and there will probably be a little bit of rain.
Please bring gaiters with you for the deep snow, and consider packing your crampons again.
The plan is to take a break at the Coburger Huette, since it will be open again, before going down again. It's unclear so far whether the Seebenalm will also be open again by then, that would be an alternative place to stop on the way down.
What to bring:
Good to have equipment
Cost per person
