Description

update: we will go with Frederics (non-HB) car and meet at 9:00 at SBahn Hohenbrunn (S7). I can also pick you up at 8:45 at SBahn Unterhaching (send me a PM). With car it is much faster, more flexible and cheaper. The website does not allow me to update the meeting point/time.

Let's enjoy the more sunny weather at Bayerischer Wald mountain range in the north-east of Bavaria, and the last day before trains are overcrowded due to Deutschlandticket.

We'll hike to the highest peak Großer Arber, its sibling Kleiner Arber and the lakes Großer and Kleiner Arbersee. The route may change depending on the conditions and schedule.

We'll probably have a break at a hut on the way.

Hikers with <1000 points or no T3 hikes must send me a PM with details about their other experience and fitness within 1h after joining. Otherwise they will be removed.

Technical Difficulty: This hike is not technically challenging, but you must be fit, not slow (>=450m gain/hour, >= 5km/h walking pace) and have good stamina, as a we are time-constrained with the train connections.

Hikers who do not fulfil the mandatory conditions (see below) will be rejected at the train station and will get a no-show review.

Weather forecast overcast, from noon on sunny

Transport: We will take the train. I'll buy Bayernticket(s) and we share the costs (between 12,6-18€ pP).

  • departure: Munich 8:24 with RE 3 (4062) to Passau, arrival: Bayerisch Eisenstein 11:13
  • return (every hour, for example): departure Bayerische Eisenstein 19:44 with WBA RB35 (83948), arrival Munich 22:37.

Legal disclaimer: This is not a guided tour. I merely organize the trip to the starting point with like-minded, qualified, properly equipped and reliable persons. Every participant must be able to navigate her/himself on the suggested route. If you join, you acknowledge that hiking is dangerous, you are fully responsible for yourself and that you have sufficient insurance (DAV, Bergrettung or similar).

Note: Please unjoin the event well in advance, if you don't want to come. You cannot unjoin the event when it is starting in less than 12 hours. No-shows will be recorded in your profile.
