Dear 'Hiking Buddies' in Switzerland!
For the next weekend I would like to propose a hiking tour from Amden to Quinten. Open for the whole family and a chance to test both your equipment and constitution.
- Feel free to join. And comment, if you have any questions.
Meeting point: Train station 'Zürich HB', platform 6 at 8:30 o'clock or alternatively in 'Ziegelbrücke' at 9:25 o'clock
Routeing: ~ 9 km, Amden - Betlis - Quinten - Murg, with ferry on the last part, mostly T1 and partially T2
Pace and duration: Moderate to sportive, depending on the group. Estimated time is 2.5 hours, without stops/breaks. So maybe 3... 3.5 hours in total.
Starting point:= bus stop 'Amden, Dorf'
Finish: Train station 'Murg' at ~ 14/15 o'clock
Highlights: Mountain villages, scenic lake 'Walen', beautiful 'Quinten', high mountain range 'Churfürsten', suspension bridge, Switzerland's highest waterfalls 'Seerenbach', cliffs, forests, meadows, wild animals (if possible to see), ferry ride
Bonus: Swimming in the lake. Temperature of the water: https://meteonews.ch/de/Wassersport/M06687007/Murg
Transportation: By SBB train S25 to station 'Ziegelbrücke', then the bus no. 650 to 'Amden, Dorf' arriving at 9:51 o'clock. Check your connection via SBB Mobile App or https://www.sbb.ch/de.
The ferry to 'Murg' goes about once per hour (https://walenseeschiff.ch/de/fahrplan/anlegestellen/quinten.html) and it costs 8.40/4.20 CHF (adult/children).
Equipment, mandatory: Hiking shoes (light), sportive/comfortable clothing, backpack, water bottles (min. 2 l)
Equipment, recommended: Hiking poles, lightweight rain jacket, snacks/food for the day, swim suit and towel
Breaks and stops: One major break at the waterfalls and a lunch picknick at Quinten, small stops at highlights and for drinking - whenever needed
Disclaimer: Everybody is responsible for his own safety and proper equipment! I am not a professional tour guide, only a hiker with experience in organising and leading tours. Hence I will send people home, if I find their appearance, behaviour and/or equipment unsafe.
Best Greetings, Sebastian
