Description

Servus friends!

I'd love to do a hochtour with the beautifully located Brandenburger haus as a base. The main objective would be a there-and-back route to the summit of the Weisskugel / Palla Bianca (3738m, F/PD-). We will be on glaciers every day, and as such alpine experience and gear is mandatory for this trip! You should be self sufficient in glacier resque techniques and moving on ice and rock. Please do not sign up if you are not! Proper acclimatisation is also recommended.

This event will mainly serve to gauge interest and to provide general info. We will discuss the details further in a whatsapp group.

Day 1:

  • We meet at "Kehre 24" on the road above the Gepatsch-Strausee. Time to be determined, but preferably early morning. Parking is available as well as a busstation called "Kaunertal Fernergries".
  • From here we will hike approx. 5-6 hours (1400hm, 10km) to the Brandenburger haus (3277m), with a break at the Rauhekopfhutte halfway.
  • Depending on energylevels and time we can choose to climb the Fluchtkogel (3500m, F) over the south face to give us a great view of the Gepatschferner, the Wildspitze and our objective for the next day; the Weisskugel
  • For sunset a short hike up to the Dahmannspitz (3401m) is possible.

Day 2:

  • Early start from the hut heading southwest over the glacier to the Vernaglwand. From there over the Weisskugeljoch and the Hintereisjoch to summit the mountain from the south side (4,5 hours to the summit from the hut).
  • We descend and head back to the Brandenburger haus over the same route (7-8 hours, 1350hm, 19km roundtrip).

Day 3:

  • Depending on our choosing we can summit the Fluchtkogel (if we haven't done this on day 1) or possibly the Weißseespitze (3526m, PD-) before heading down the way we came up on day 1.

Hey Milan and Julie, are either of you driving here? Would make a lot of sense to carpool I think. It's impossible to get there by public transport before lunchtime. Also, do you want to start the 3 day trip on Sunday? That wasn't clear from the description.
