Dear 'Hiking Buddies' in Switzerland!

For the next weekend I would like to propose a hiking tour from Schänis to Federispitz and Weesen. Open for advanced hikers only, as this is considered a challenging to difficult tour.

- Feel free to join. And comment, if you have any questions.

Start/Meeting point: Train station 'Schänis', 9:05 o'clock

Meeting point (optional): Train station 'Zürich HB', 8:10 o'clock inside train "IR 35" to 'Chur', leaving platform 7

Routeing: ~ 15 km, Schänis - Federiwald - Federigrat - Federispitz - Unterfidersch - Bauernhof Brändliberg - Autis/Weesen

Pace and duration: Moderate to sportive, depending on the group. (Better we stay together. But fast runners can go ahead on their own.) Estimated time, without sightseeing stops or breaks is 6:30 hours. So probably 7... 7.5 hours in total with moderate pace.

Finish: Bus stop 'Autis' at ~ 16/17 o'clock

Highlights: Very scenic views/viewpoints, forests, meadows, farm animals (bio farm nearby), wildlife (if possible to see), interesting mountain ridge paths, small waterfalls

Good to know

Transportation: By SBB train, arriving at 9:05 o'clock. - Please check your best personal connection and pricing via SBB Mobile App or  https://www.sbb.ch/de.

- Feel free to offer/open a car pool here if someone arrives by car.

Equipment, mandatory: Hiking shoes (heavy), sportive/comfortable clothing, backpack, water bottles (min. 2 l), sun protection and sun cream

Equipment, recommended: Hiking poles, lightweight rain jacket, snacks/food for the day, insect repellent, swimsuit and towel

Breaks and stops: One major picnic break at the highest point (ca. 1/2 of the track), short stops at highlights and for drinking -  whenever needed. And a final swim break at lake 'Walen'.

Disclaimer: Everybody is responsible for his own safety and proper equipment! So please check prior that you have the right fitness and equipment for this tour!

I am not a professional tour guide, only a hiker/cyclist with experience in organising and leading tours. Hence I will send people home, if I find their appearance, behaviour and/or equipment unsafe.
