Dear 'Hiking Buddies' in Switzerland!
For the next Sunday, 18.6., I would like to propose a hiking tour from Einsiedeln to Unterägeri. - This is basically the eight leg of the famous official route 3 "Alpine Panorama". Open for everyone, as it is considered a "family friendly" tour. Despite the paths being easy, it is very long, so make sure you can handle it!
- Feel free to join. And comment, if you have any questions.
Start/Meeting point: Train station 'Einsiedeln', 9:35 o'clock
Meeting point (optional): Train station 'Zürich HB', 8:35 o'clock on platform 6 (train S 25 to Wädenswil)
Meeting point (late arrival): Train station 'Altmatt' in the village "Äussere Altmatt" at around 10:45/11:00 o'clock. This also reduces the distance by ca. 5 km. - Please leave a comment or message me your contact details, if you join there!
Routeing: ~ 22 km, Einsiedeln - Äussere Altmatt - St. Jost - Gottschalkenberg - Mangelhöhe - Unterägeri
Pace and duration: Moderate to fast, depending on the group average. (Better we stay together. But fast runners can go ahead on their own.) Estimated time, without sightseeing stops or breaks is 6:30 hours. So probably 7.5 ... 8 hours in total with moderate pace.
Finish: Unterägeri at ~ 17/18 o'clock with a swim at lake 'Ägeri'
Highlights: Scenic views/viewpoints, forests, meadows, cows, wild animals (if possible to see), old villages, Alpine panorama, refreshing swim at the finish
Transportation: By SBB trains, arriving at 9:33 o'clock. - Please check your best personal connection and pricing via SBB Mobile App or https://www.sbb.ch/de.
- Feel free to offer/open a car pool here if someone arrives by car.
Equipment, mandatory: Hiking shoes (light), sportive/comfortable clothing, backpack, water bottles (min. 2 l), sun protection and sun cream
Equipment, recommended: Hiking poles, lightweight rain jacket, snacks/food for the day, insect repellent, swim suit and towel
Breaks and stops: Two major breaks at the highest viewpoints (ca. 1/3 and 2/3 of the track), short stops at highlights and for drinking - whenever needed.
Disclaimer: Everybody is responsible for his own safety and proper equipment! So please check prior that you have the right fitness and equipment for this tour!
I am not a professional tour guide, only a hiker/cyclist with experience in organising and leading tours. Hence I will send people home, if I find their appearance, behaviour and/or equipment unsafe.
