Description
Alternative to Wörner due to unpassable snowfield!
Lets go to the Tajakante Klettersteig & Coburger Klettersteig, was Wörner is reprted to have some nasty snowfields on the way.
It is a scenic but difficult hike with via ferrata, rated at D/E, with some unsecured scrambling. You need a Helmet, Klettersteig set also need to be sure-footed and comfortable with exposition. We will go at the solid medium pace of 400-450 hm/h and this should be not too exhausting to you, as the technical part comes at the top. Via Ferrata is very long and alpine - please make sure you know what you are signing for.
On the way back we will stop for food and drinks at the Cobürger Hütte or another Mounain Hut.
Duration will be about 8-9 hours - please join when you have experience with similar hikes. No beginner tour.

Good to know
What to bring:
✓ Food/water for the whole day

✓ Via Ferrata set and Helmet (and proficiency)
✓ Spikes (just in case)
✓ Appropriate clothing incl. water/rain protection
✓ Headlamp and first aid kit (for emergencies)
✓ Good mood and flexibility ;)

I will drive with my car and have 3 seats free. For my car we meet in Munich at 6:15, close to U-Bahn Westpark (U6). I would like to start hiking by 8, meeting at 7:45 at the parking spot.
Up through Hoher Gang, if you want and are fast/strong enough you can take the Seeban Klettersteig as well.

Hey guys! If the weather is stable, I would love to go see the Sonnwendfeuer on a mountain close to Lermoos and bivy there. Let me know if anyone else is interested! Sleeping bag, mat, emergency bivy bag, and knowledge of and adherence to leave no trace principles are non negotiable ;)

Hi guys! I found this description of the Wörner from 4 dats ago, unfortunately it's not possible without winter equipment/rope yet. https://www.facebook.com/groups/Karwendelfreunde/permalink/1262102381081512/?app=fbl I suggest either Ehrwalder Sonnenspitze, Tajakante via Ferrata or Kleiner Waxenstein as alternatives. Any preference? I'll make the decision today early afternoon.

Hi Klara! It looks quite doable to me with an ice axe and crampons or spikes. But don't know if everyone has that gear and the skills to use it. I've done all of them except Kl Waxenstein, but did Gr Waxenstein 2 weeks ago so it would maybe be a bit too similar for me. Sonnenspitze I imagine is going to be quite busy and might have the same snow problem. Tajakante is super nice! I'd love to do it again. It is really difficult and requires endurance though. A klettersteigset is really a must and for non-climbers it is sometimes too much.

So personally I'd say Tajakante, especially because then we can also swim after the hard part is over!

Hello All. All the alternatives sound nice to me. I have done the Tajakante and the crossing of the Sonnenspitze already. If we do the Tajakante we can start with the Seebensteig, as we already carry the gear for the Via Ferrata.

Hi everyone, thanks for your opinions! I agree snowfilend would be probably possible with ice axe & crampons, but I do not feel comfortabledoing that with the Buddies I do not know (yet :) ) - nothing perosnal, just made some bad experiences in the past. I did the Seebener Klettersteig before but not Tajakante. I will plan for the Tajakante & Coburger Klettersteig, and we could split a group for those who want to add Seebener Klettersteig and those who take Schöngänge (I would do Schöngänge because of some shoulder problems - this one really, really goes on the upper body!). See you all tomorrow at 7:45 at the parking of the Ehrwalder Almbahn ( I will move the starting time 15 earlier, as the way is longer / more prone to traffic).

Btw. Sonnenspitze and Tajakante were both reported doable and with no snow.

Hello Klara - just to avoid confusions. I guess you mean "Hohen Gang" or the Immensteig. instead of the Schöngänge.
