Hike Profile
Total Distance: 14 km
Total Elevation gain: 1600 m
Technical difficulty:
The hike has difficulty T5 (mostly T3/T4 though). Please read the blog by
Thomas to understand the requirement for T Sac Scale. In general, this is not
suitable for beginners, and you should have some fitness to make 1600 elevation
gain without any problem. It has a Klettersteig (B grade) on the trail, I am
not considering to skip that. The speed would not be very fast, because I make
photos J .
Things to bring:
1. Hiking boots.
2. Hiking Poles.
3. Klettersteig Set (Harness, Carabena and Helmet)
4. Enough water and food for yourself.
5. Cash for the ticket.
6. I prefer if you have DAV membership.
7. Headlamp (may not be necessary).
8. Most importantly a smiling face and a happy vibe.
Note: Please don’t join the hike if you want to
come back early or if you don’t like to be photographed: P. Please unjoin
the event well in advance if you don't plan to come. You cannot unjoin the
event when it is starting in less than 12 hours.
Depending on the weather
it could be postponed to following Sunday or following weeks.
Very

Very Important!
Going to the mountains like any other
adventure tours is always risky, sometimes it might be life threatening!
Attendees are advised to read the full description in to, look into the route
details and to make it familiarise with themselves to the point that as if they
are going to hike by their own. If there is any unwanted and unfortunate
incident happens they are at this moment informed that they have to pay by
themselves if the rescue team needs to be called (average cost 3,000 Euro). We
are certainly not official guides, so it is not a guided tour. The organizer is
only responsible for taking care of the meeting and sharing the travel cost,
nothing else!
I am looking forward to seeing you!
UPDATE: I called the hut (http://www.mittenwalder-huette.de/kontakt/) today (01.07.2019). The lady said that the Klettersteig is not completely snow free yet but people are doing it. Also, looking at the heated weather, I think by the weekend it will have even lesser snow. Whatever is the case, the Klettersteig has some parts exposed, look at the video by yourself https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FskmhCKenqA. So, if someone has the fear of height please consider about it. Since there are a lot of people in the waiting list, people who are not sure to hike with us please unjoin immediately.
