I'm planning a beautiful hike for Sunday up Schöttelkarspitze and Soiernspitze near Mittenwald! From there there are beautiful views of the Garmisch and Walchensee regions. This hike involves scrambling next to cliff faces and covers considerable distance and elevation, so please only join if you are an experienced hiker and have very good physical endurance.

The hike starts with a fairly steep and lengthy ascent, then follows the mountain ridge for most of the way between the two peaks. After descending fairly quickly from the second peak into the valley, we will make another considerable climb up the other side of the valley (Wörnersattel). From there it will be a fairly easy walk downhill back to Mittenwald.

The forecast is calling for rain in the afternoon, so we'll try to make a quick ascent (450 hm/hr) to beat the rain. Here's a rough estimate of times:

 - 6:32 train from Munich hbf to Garmisch, where we will have to switch to a bus

- 8:30 arrive at the trailhead

- 11:00 arrive at Schöttelkarspitze

- 12:30 arrive at Soiernspitze

- 16:00 reach Wörnersattel

- 19:00 back in Mittenwald (bus at 19:25)

- 21:30 back in Munich

There is an option to skip Wörnersattel and go directly back to Mittelwald if time and/or weather aren't looking favorable.
