Dear hiking buddies.

I have been looking where to go on this warm sunday. This hike will offer trees covering most of the way walking up. We will be on the north side of the mountains which will probably offer some shadow during the hike and then after hike we can swim in Bannalpsee before walking down.

Bannalpsee is a beautiful lake in a sky area surrounded by mountains.

Bring water and sunscreen, plenty :D.

Important:

If we have enough cars we can drive anyone to the station in Wolfenschiessen, since we will pass there anyway.

But if everybody comes by public transport there will only be an hour of time swimming in the lake and eating.
The last cable car goes down at 17:30 and the Bus leaves around 18:00.

Please keep that in mind.

Time Frame:

10:00 meet and start

around 16:00-16:30 arrival at Bannalpsee [after 13 Km]

eating at the Restaurant and swimming in Bannalpsee

17:30 taking the last cable car down for everyone departing by public transport 

18:00-19:00 (flexible) starting to walk down [4.5 Km and 600 height meters down]

Travels from Zurich HB:

08:10 Zürich HB, platform 8 (IR70 to Lucerne)

08:51 arrival Lucerne

09:10 Lucerne, platform 14 (IR 2964 direction Engelberg)

09:33 arrival Wolfenschiessen

09:37 Wolfenschiessen station (Bus B331 33113 direction Oberrickenbach, Talstation LFCH)

09:51 arrival  Oberrickenbach, Talstation LFCH

Hike:

We will walk up to Walenalp, for the first 2 hours there will be trees covering us.

Then we cross from west to east into the direction of Urnerstaffel with the mountains on our south side.

At Urnerstaffel it is possible to use the toilets, buy drinks or food or refill bottles of water.

Then we walk down to Bannalpsee and will take a long break there.

After that we walk to the starting point.

Food:

We will eat something at Restaurant Bannalpsee (https://www.restaurant-bannalpsee.ch).

Of course it is possible to take things for picnic and eat at the lake.

Equipment:

No specific equipment needed, apart from hiking boots and lots of water.

There is not evertywhere protection against the sun, so use sunscreen.

Application:

As always there is the possibility to come by car.

Join the car pool and either create a car yourself or have a look who can take you there.

For those who come by public transport please create a "car" in the carpool with around 30 seats and use "public transport" as a description. That way others can join that one and we keep a good overview.

If that one is full, create another one with 30 seats please.

No maximum number of participants.
