Hiking to the highest German peak: BrentAlm – Gatterl – Zugspitze – Stopselzieher Klettersteig – BrentAlm. Route: http://out.ac/IMEwCg
. Scrambling or climbing of categories up to A/B. Only for experienced
hikers: sure-footedness, a head for heights, good physical condition,
and good equipment are necessary. As standing in a queue to the cross on
Zugspitze takes lots of time, we are highly likely to skip the cross. If Stopselzieher Klettersteig is covered with snow, we may replace hiking down with taking a cable car to Ehrwald.
Necessary:
Optional:
If
many participants show up, we split into groups according to the
vertical speed, e.g., a group with ⩽ 300 m/h, a group with ≈ 375 m/h,
and a group with ⩾ 450 m/h.
In case of rain, snowfall, or thunderstorm, or in case of too few participants, the hike might be canceled, modified, or moved. I'm going to check the path and weather conditions a day or two before the hike so that we know whether the via-ferrata gear is needed.
The tour is unguided; I'm not a guide. Every hiker is fully responsible for himself/herself and hikes at his/her own risk.
