Description

Dear Buddies,
As I have promised I am organizing this two-day hike aiming to see the awesome sunset and amazing sunrise with a beautiful panoramic view from Matrashaus. I have booked 15 sleeping places in the Lager.
The plan is to hike to Matrashaus on Wednesday and go back down on Thursday the same way. No klettersteig :)
You need to be free on both days.
Who can join me?
Absolutely regular and fit hikers, who are interested in accepting the challenge.
Cost
20 euro for the sleeping place in the hut + money for hut dinner/drinks + carpool or train
Good to know
Gear
- Passport/identity card
- At least 2 liters of water
- Cup (plastic or metal)
- Hut sleeping bag
- Food or snacks on the trail. (both days!)
- Warm clothes
- rain jacket, waterproof pants
- hiking boots!
- headlamp
- medical kit
- extra socks, tshirt
spikes/gaiters (most likely not needed)- sunscreen, sunglasses
- hiking poles, if you use them
- DAV membership
- toothpaste & toothbrush
- cash

- spare set of shoes & t-shirt for the car journey

Crampons: I went into Schuster today to look at getting crampons (they have a good range). The guy was pretty sure I wouldn't need them. He asked another employee who hiked Zugspitze (similar height) on the north side (colder) a week ago and he said there was almost no snow, and it was soft (that means crampons aren't as useful?). But that's just one opinion; I don't know much about how snow works (Australian).

you dont need crampons, there is some snow up there but no ice and this is not a high altitude tour. Crampons are useless in snow.
