Please read the instructions before joining:

This is a moderate hike (5-6h) and the plan is to spend some time at the Eibsee. Note that due to the limitations of public transport, it is very important that you are in good shape (350 - 400m altitude per hour), as this will allow us more leeway and also time to relax at the lake. We will also take the earlier train (7:32 train instead of 8:32) to be on the safe side.

Drop out allowed latest 24h before the event, so the people on the waiting list will have time to be notified and participate.

Good to know
  • Let's meet at the HBF at 7:10 (taking the RB 6 leaving at 7:32).  Please be on time as we will enter the train soon after 7:15.
  • We will arrive at Garmisch-Partenkichen at around 8:56.
  • From the Bustop (Post) we will take Bus 9840 to Eibsee, and arrive around 9:55.
  • After we finish the tour, we will spend some time at the lake, maybe even grab some food at the restaurant.
  • From October onwards Bus 9840 only departs to Garmisch every two hours. The bus we are aiming to take is 18:10. See also schedule here: Eibseebus.de

Kindly remember to pack the following essentials:

  • Identification documents (the trail does cross the Austrian border)
  • food and drinks for the entire day (as seen fit)
  • swimgear (for a dip in the Eibsee)
  • sundry cash (for food/drinks)
  • rain/sun protection according to the latest weather forecast (most probably sunny)
  • Alpenverein / mountain insurance recommended
  • first aid kit for emergencies  recommended
  • headlamp for emergencies recommended

Disclaimer: Please note that this list is not exhaustive and every participant should conduct their own research and self-assessment before joining. Additionally, please be advised that I am not a mountain guide and hiking can be risky. Therefore, you are responsible for your own safety and must familiarize yourself with the route and its requirements. I recommend downloading a map and bringing a cell phone for emergencies.

Hi, good morning Darius, would it be possible to increase the size of the group or add new participants if someone can not come?
