NOTE:
Please be punctual! Train could be fully packed, so better to be on the
safer side and take a seat as early as it is possible.
NOTE: Please check the gain and distance of the hike, it may not be beginner friendly. I do not go with the people who does not >1200m uphill in one day AND cannot keep the pace of 400 mph at least.
Mahnkopf (2,094m) is a must-to-be-visited summit in the Karwendel. Only from this point you have an impressive all-round view, which can be breathtaking, especially in the early morning hours or in the evening! The tour presented starts in the Johannesetal and leads along easy paths to the Engalm through the Falkenhütte. Consistently beautiful mountain hike, which can sometimes be busier due to its popularity.
We will meet at Munchen Hbf (Gl. 34). Please be punctual!
The hike should take ca. 8-9 hours with an intermediate pace of 400-450 mph.
The plan is following:
7:04 - 8:11 (RB 56) München Hbf -> Lenggries
8:18 - 9:01 (Bus 9569) Lenggries -> Johannesetal
9:00 - 18:00 hiking + lunchbreak at the Falkenhutte
18:35 - 19:37 (Bus 9569) Eng Tirol Gasthaus -> Lenggries
19:47 - 20:55 (RB 56) Lenggries -> München Hbf
We can have a dinner at Eng Alm during the hike or in Lenggries.
It may change depending on the weather, hike & availability of the connections. However, the last connection departures at 18:35 and we are aiming to catch this bus!
Sticks may be helpful to keep you safe.

Things to bring:
Deutschland Ticket with ID card;
for not-EU citizens: passport/visa (we are crossing boarder);
since Deutschalnd Ticket is valid only to Oswaldhütte, we need to buy a ticket in the bus for the route from Oswaldhütte to Alpengasthof Eng and back (~8 EUR each person one way, so ~15 EUR both ways). We can also try to buy the group ticket, then the final price of ticket can be lower;
hiking shoes;
extra socks;
windproof and waterproof clothes;
water (at least 3 l) and some food;
sunscreen and sunglasses;
DAV insurance;
good energy and stamina.
Optional:
hiking poles;
first aid kit.
Note:
Unjoining is allowed until 12 hours before the start of the event
The organizer is no professional guide. Participants are responsible for themselves, must do their own research about the route, and must be able to navigate by themselves (in case the group splits for some reason, for example)
