The is meant to be my personal preparation for the event the week after: https://www.hiking-buddies.com/routes/events/8501/  but of course you are welcomed to join if you are up for this challenge.

Based on my experience from my recent 2 visits to Zugspitze, it should take 6 hours to descend from the peak to Garmisch station and 4 - 5 hours to ascend from Eibsee to Zugspitze through Stopselzieher. In this case we should reach the outskirt of Garmisch by 1900, allowing us to have roughly 3 - 4 hours to climb wank and down to the station again to catch the last train departing from Garmisch at 2306.

The hike may be postponed / changed depending on the weather.

Good to know

You may want to bring the following:

  • Water
  • Food / snack
  • cash / ID
  • Climbing gloves
  • Helmet, via Ferrata kit, Harness (I personally won't bring them for Stopselzieher though)
  • Headlamp (for sure we need this)
  • Hiking poles
