Dear hiking buddies.
Creux du Van, the Swiss "Grand Canyon". It is one of the most iconic looking places in the Jura mountains.
But doing only that is a bit too easy right? So we take the Gorge de L'Areuse on the same walk.
Weather forecast shows a mostly sunny, but cold day (around 5 degrees).
We will be probably walking aroung 10 hours, plus 1-2 breaks. So 11 hours.
Means we will be returning in the dark, sunset is around 19:00.
If you have, bring some headlamps for the last meters.
Time Frame:
09:20 meet and start (thats when the train arrives from Neuchatel)
around 13:00 picnic at a view point near Creux du van
around 20:00 back in Boudry
Meeting point:
https://maps.app.goo.gl/FoLVzypKH2Y38EAA9Boudry station, i will send a detailed location in the Whatsapp group on the day, havent been there yet.
Travels from Zurich HB:
07:30 departure Zurich HB (track 17, IC 5 direction Lausanne)
09:01 arrival Neuchatel
09:10 departure Neuchatel (track 7, Regio 7262 direction Gorgier St Aubin)
09:20 arrival Boudry
Hike:
We start at the station of Boudry. If anyone comes by car we could as well start directly at the Gorge, but we can determine this in the Whatsapp group.
Then for the first 7Km we walk along the gorge, which is more or less flat (200 height meters over 7Km).
Then there is a bit of a climb to Creux du Van.
Picnic and break at the viewpoint (around 30 min) and then we proceed to walk on the Creux du Van and back.
The last few Kilometers will be in the forest without sunlight probably, phones would be enough but bring headlamps if you got them.
Picnic:
View Point near Creux du Van around 13:00.
Equipment:
No specific equipment needed, apart from hiking boots, warm clothes and a headlamp.
Application:
As always there is the possibility to come by car.
Join the car pool and either create a car yourself or have a look who can take you there.
For those who come by public transport please create a "car" in the carpool with around 30 seats and use "public transport" as a description. That way others can join that one and we keep a good overview.
If that one is full, create another one with 30 seats please.
No maximum number of participants.
