Description

Train starts at 7:50 at Munich East.

You are welcome to already board the train at Munich Central station on platform 10, leaving at 7:38.

Please join the WhatsApp group once it’s announced in the comments a few days before the hike.

Let’s have a nice view of the Alps from a lesser known perspective! These peaks are fairly low above sea level, but offer scenic views nonetheless.

If there’s a majority for it and enough time, we may stop at one of the huts (Hohe Asten or Berggasthaus Petersberg). However, being back at Flintsbach train station before sunset is a priority.

Route may be modified based on the conditions of the day of the hike (we may skip Hirschnagel if conditions are not favorable enough). If the weather is too bad or visibility is too low, the hike may be postponed or cancelled altogether.

This is a hike with moderate difficulty (T2), only a small section is medium difficulty (T3). If you’re not familiar with the hiking scale, have a look at https://www.hiking-buddies.com/blog/2018/07/02/sac-hiking-scale/

Expected pace is around 350-400m of ascent per hour. Please only join if you think that you can handle pace and distance in winterly conditions.

This is a group hike. We stay together the whole time.

Good to know

Remember to bring:

  • train ticket (49€ ticket or MVV day ticket for zone 9)
  • food/water for the whole day (water can usually be refilled on the way, but might be frozen)
  • hiking poles
  • gaiters
  • spikes / crampons
  • rain and wind protection
  • headlamp and first aid kit (for emergencies)
  • snacks for the organiser (not mandatory)
  • good mood (mandatory)

Disclaimer: Hiking can be dangerous. I am not a mountain guide. Everyone is responsible for themselves. Please make yourself familiar with the route and its requirements. Please download the track, bring your cell phone and a first aid kit.

Weather forecast is cold but sunny, so we can go in a bigger group without anyone getting lost. Let’s just depart one hour earlier to make up for small delays due to the group size.
