Schönfeldspitze is the highest peak (2653m) of the Steinerne Meer after the Selbhorn (2655m). It is a prominent peak visible from Königssee, with a unique summit cross, also called Matterhorn of the Berchtesgardener Alpen.
Route: The maps shows the minimum route. Depending on the weather and the group, we could explore more of Steinernes Meer or some additional peaks.
The hike will be postponed if there is bad weather or if the rocks are still wet.
We will have lunch at Riemannhaus hut.
Time: we'll meet in Munich at around 6 o'clock and at the starting point in the valley at ca 8:15. Don't expect to be back before sunset.
Transport: We will go by car as the starting point is not accessible by public transport. With sufficient interested I'll rent a minibus for 9 persons (price about 18€ pP). The driver(s) may require passengers to pay in advance. Please read the car instructions carefully.
Technical Difficulty: This hike is NOT suitable for beginners. It involves some exposed climbing (UIAA I). You have to be absolutely surefooted and no fear of heights. You should have above average pace (>500m gain/hour) and stamina.
Legal disclaimer: This is not a guided tour. I merely organize the trip to the starting point with like-minded, qualified, properly equipped and reliable persons. Every participant must download the suggested path and be able to navigate her/himself. If you join, you are aware that hiking is dangerous, you are fully responsible for yourself and must have sufficient insurance.
On the day before the hike, please check whether it was postponed (due to weather) and check your emails for further informations. I'll send you an invitation to a WhatsApp group.
