Description
It looks sunny enough Saturday to get our winter tan!
Route: We start with a part of Route 895 up til the cute little Flesch Kiosk where (warm) drinks and snacks can be bought. Then we take a little circle tour which will bring us back to the kiosk again, after which we take a different snowshoe track back to Eggberge.
Meeting point and time: Flüelen, Eggberge Talstation 10:20
Getting there
- By car: Navigate using Google maps to Flüelen, Eggberge Talstation.
- By public transport: Bus station at start point: Flüelen, Eggberge Talstation (Train 9:05 from Zurich HB, change in Zug, then in Fluelen, Bus 401 arrives 10:22.)
Getting back
- By public transport: Bus station at start point: 16:31, 17:01, 17:31, ..., 23:01. The last cable car down is at 20:00 if you want to stay up longer.
What to take: snowshoes, snow gaiters, warm enough clothes (layers), food, drinks, sunscreen, sunglasses.
Pace: Moderate pace. I expect the hike to take ~5 hours. Plus one hour chilling and tanning at the kiosk! And we can watch the sunset behind the mountains on the west before taking the cable car down.
Planning: We aim to have a lunch break at 12:30 at Hunderegg or Fleschsee. Then after the loop we can chill at the kiosk at around 14:30. This splits the hike nicely in three parts.
Grade: Snowshoeing, physically demanding, not dangerous.

BTW for those going from ZRH HB at 9:05, the train IC2 leaving at 9:05 costs 25CHF, but the train IR75 leaving at 8:35 costs 13,8 CHF (as a supersaver ticket).

Take attention to the waiting time for the cable car. It’s not to a big one and weeks ago, it was almost one hour to wait…

I know, I’ve also waited 45 minutes in the past on a sunny day. I’m hoping that by starting a bit later we will not conflict with the skiers going up. 👌 See you on a next one, and enjoy Stoos on Saturday!
