Hi There! Quick introduction: main reason of this "hike" is practice for high altitude alpine ascends, if hopefully snow condition will be hard enough and of course enjoy the views and hike! [This Hike Is Not For Beginners, good sport form and knowledge of what you are doing]
Plan:
7:55 starting point oberrickenbach talstat.
We take off and keep a similarly quick pace [quick enough to make it through faster, but nothing overkill!] all the way until foothill of chaiserstuel. This will be after bannalp when we reach a wall of 30° - 40°.
On this slope i want to practice vertical ascend and descend, (supposingly the snow is not very thick, so risk of avalanche is minimal, if you wish you can zig zag up or follow me, but we will also see it on spot) most probably snow will be hard (if not, than there is nothing much technical, just walk up), in this case i advise you to use spikes/crampons and its preferable if you have an ice axe, just in case [sliding down there is not going to be a nice journey!] i am not going to use crampons, i want to practice just with boots, but i will have an axe on me. I will be in lead, if you don't have spikes, you will have steps which i make, but there is still possibility of slipping!
Get up to chaiserstuel and enjoy our views with break and foods, we will make a good break up there, just enough to recover but not to be late.
Head down, the same path. After bannalp we will go down following a T4 route, i am not completely sure of how bad it is, but it will have an exposed, high degree, covered in snow section, its short but might be tricky. Ice axe and or spikes/crampons for safety reasons. If it's too dangerous we reroute.
Last bus is at 18:04, if we will be late, we'll have to hike down to Dallenwill 😁
What you need:
- Warm clothes, but able to take layers off (it will be 0 degrees but sun will be shining hard, so maybe it will be hot)
- Ice axe/Spikes are not actually mandatory, but highly advised, can use hiking poles instead, would probably work too on this altitude. [im not going to use snowshoes]
- Food and enough water
- Sunscreen
-bring a head lamp in case we finish late
-sunglasses advised (sun + snow = blind)
- Good mood 😁
Let's see what we can do.
Last but not least:
I am not a professional guide, so please make sure you are well prepared. Familiarize yourself with the route, have it downloaded in your GPS app, make sure you are confident in the environment as all members are responsible for themselves.
