Description

Well known and well trodden route - pace will not be fast as I plan to take a few photos on the way.

The return time is subject to the pace of the group. I hope to get the train from Tegernsee at 15:52, or maybe the one at 16:22. Journey time is just over an hour.

Good to know

Please note that the meeting time is 15 minutes before the 8:24 train leaves. As there may be a few other people planning to go hiking on Sunday please get to the meeting point ready to board the train - please do NOT turn up at 8:10 and then go off looking for coffee/breakfast - get that stuff BEFORE you arrive. Usual disclaimers about responsibility apply. Good shoes rather than formal hiking boots are acceptable. I currently plan to stop at Galaun on the way down but may continue to Tegernsee without buying anything if the place is overcrowded. The plan shows us going via Riederstein Chapel, but there is a way of avoiding that and taking a shortcut to Galaun for those who don't want to go to the Chapel.

UPDATE: It is recommended that you bring something to eat and drink with you in case the hut is overcrowded. 1-2 litres of water and a snack should be OK.

There is a possibility of a thunderstorm later in the day - if it just rains then we will continue as planned. However, if on the hike it looks like there will be thunder/lightning then we will cut the hike short. The main decision point is at about 5.7 Km - after that we are pretty much committed to going up to the summit. Pack something light but waterproof just in case.
