I plan to do all stages of Via Alpina on various days in 2024 and 2025. Come and join :)

This is a combination of the offical "C1 Sücka » Vaduz" and "C2 Vaduz » Sargans" stages. With about 30km and 9 hours it is quite long. It also serves as some sort of "training" for the Rigimarsch 2024 in May for me.

Part of the "fun" of doing the Via Alpina is to collect all the stamps on the way. I HAVE to do this :) There's an official "Wanderpass" in which all the stamps can be collected. I've got one booklet to spare - first one to yell can get it (otherwise order it for free from the site).

As the hike is quite long, I plan to NOT (❗️) make too many stops. It's rather flat, once we're over the Rhine, so that should check out.

As usual, I'm planning to go to a restaurant for dinner in Sargans after the hike - because I'm hardly going to cook any more :)

· Picnic: There’ll be a short stop after 50% for eating a bit.

Public transportation

From Zürich in the morning

Meeting point: Meet in the train IC 3 from platform 8. I will come from Winterthur and rush to the train.

Note: Seats have been reserved for the shown connections from and to Zurich. As soon as I know where the seats are, I'll update — this will be on the evening before, after 20:00.

It very much depends on the time we arrive at the destination. PLANNED JOURNEY, with reserved seats. There are numerous connections from Sargans.

Tickets

Maybe get a 20 or 30 ticket pack from SBB: "The Leisure Travelcard". It's CHF 900 for 20 tix or CHF 1'200 for 30 tix. Valid for 1 year.

Make sure to have tickets for the trains/busses.
