Description
Let's do Easter hike to Wasserfallen.
The crest trails near Wasserfallen offer panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, including the Black Forest and the Vosges Mountains to the northwest, and the Alps stretching from the Allgäu to Mont Blanc to the south. Hinteri Egg, the highest point in Basel-Country, is a notable highlight along the trail. Wasserfallen serves as an excellent vantage point to admire both the Basel region and the Swiss Plateau, with cable cars providing access to the nationally protected mountain area.
While the name suggests waterfalls, the actual cascade is visible only in winter as fog dissipates over the saddle near Wasserfallen, creating a breathtaking spectacle. Year-round hiking is enjoyable, with spring bringing wild garlic along the hiking path.
The loop trail starts at the mountain station, passing through the Hinteri Egg barbecue area and offering viewpoints at Chellenchöpfli and Passwang.

Pace
This is a beginner friendly hike, with time to admire the views. We will adjust the pace based on team dyanamics.
Food
Please take your own food and drinks:
- Warm/cold drinks in isotherm bottles (at least 1,5L of water)
- Snacks for the road
- Packed lunch for lunch-break
Gear
Please come with proper hiking gear:
- Hiking boots with a good grip (Recommended)
- Hiking poles if you have knee problems (Optional)
- Multiple layers of clothes (inc. warm clothes)
- Rain and/or sun protection (inc. sunglasses and hat)

Note -
If you want to save 400 meter of ascent, then you can take the gandola from Reigoldswil, Dorfplatz to Wasserfallen. The same option is available for descent with slight detour.
