Public Transport : 

The Deutschland ticket is not valid between Mittenwald and Scharnitz and 

Gießenbach  to Mittenwald. We will have to buy additional ticket

Mittenwald to Scharnitz is 2,90€

Gießenbach  to Mittenwald is 3,90€

We take the below train from Munich.

Hut: There is a hut it might be open

Weather: It seems ok for now and if it turns too bad, the trip will be cancelled.

Let´s go this Sunday for a beautiful medium Spring hike including panoramic views to Karwendel and two canyons! 

A hike that goes through a less known part of Karwendel.

From Scharnitz station, we follow the Hinterautalstraße through the village. After a few minutes you come to a meadow, where you follow the signs to the right in the direction of the Isar Valley Trail. You climb a few meters steeply and turn left. Now it's almost the same height along the young Isar, whose origins are closeby, to the Scharnitzer Alm. Here you get already beautiful views of Karwendel peaks. We continue straight ahead on the forest road until you reach the Gleirschtal. Here the trail branches off into the Gleirschklamm. From there, a narrow trail leads over many bridges and footbridges through the wild Gleirschklamm. Very worthwhile, relatively short tour with brilliant scenic impressions! The trail leads slightly uphill right next to the wild water over many bridges and footbridges through the gorge. Some wire rope safety devices are attached, sure-footedness is necessary. In any case, you should stop to look at the sometimes breathtaking masses of water and watch your head in the sometimes low passages.  At the end of the gorge, follow the path along the stream to a forest road. From here we go up till we reach Oberbrünneralm with more beautiful views through the forrest path towards south Karwendel.

We finally turn north direction Gießenbach in Tirol. We go through a path that is first large and then gets narrower through rocky walls of Gießenbachklamm where the Gießenbach water is roaring through.

We reach our final destination Gießenbach in Tirol.
