Description

Hello Hiking Buddies,

I am planning on doing a "not for beginners hike" this Sunday. The weather looks good, but the conditions are a bit up in the air.  We will attempt the ridge, but depending on how the snow looks, we might have to reroute a bit.  The webcams have it all covered in snow and there is some avalanche risk, so we will keep a close eye on it.  So a good sense of humor and a love of adventure is highly appreciated.  Worst case scenario is we skip the ridge and just walk A to B.

We will maintain a solid 400m/hr pace and take few breaks.   We will stop at the hut and/or the summit, but along the way expect a brisk pace.  If time allows, and it should, we will take a swim at the lake before grabbing the bus back.

Meet at Munich Main Station, Platform 29 at 7:15 and we'll catch the 7:32 RB 6 to Garmisch-Partenkirchen.  Return buses run every hour until 8pm, so I'm not worried about missing them.  We'll take our time on the way down and at the lake, so best not to have early plans for the evening.  Of course, if you like, you can skip the swim and head back on your own.

Good to know

Here are the instructions from the Event that I am repeating, and they seem to fit just fine, so I'll just repeat those as well.  And I will add that you should bring a swimsuit and a towel  :D

Things to bring:

  • Train ticket (49 Euro) & ID card
  • Hiking shoes
  • Food/drinks for the whole hike
  • Raincoat & hiking clothes (winter season)
  • Spikes and Gaiters
  • Download.gpx file in advance and ready with import to your tracking app/’s. Example gpx viewer
  • First Aid Kit
  • spare socks and dress in case of rain
  • Gloves
  • Most importantly, a good mood 😊 (as my friend Kipras would say)

** I am not a mountain guide, so please be aware that you join at your own risk. **

Disclaimer: Going to the mountains, like any other adventure tours, is always risky; sometimes it might be life-threatening! Attendees are advised to read the full description, look into the route details and familiarize themselves to the point that as if they are going to hike by their own.

If there is any unwanted and unfortunate incident happened, they are at this moment informed that they have to pay by themselves if the rescue team needs to be called (average cost 3,000 Euro). We are certainly not official guides, so it is not a guided tour. The organizer is only responsible for taking care of the meeting and sharing the travel cost, nothing else
