Description
This is a carpool event (it looks a little convoluted by public transport). If you do not have a car, please join the waitlist first until drivers have added their cars. You can then join a car.
I will create a WhatsApp group nearer the day. Description and plan below.

12:30-13:00 reach peak
13:00-14:00 lunch in the hut
17:00 reach park platz. Team decides whether to have a drink/snacks at the lake

Hi buddies!
Let’s go this Sunday for a scenic tour with awesome views in Salzburgerland. You should be able to handle 1188m elevation, 13km distance for this T2 level hike. Please leave the day free so that we don’t have to rush :) I like to take in the atmosphere and have a good lunch 😉 Forecast on Bergfex and Meteoblue looks decent, but please bring layers incase it is chilly at higher altitudes (the peak is 1783m).

The "Wolfgangseer Schafberg" is one of the peaks with most beautiful view in Austria. Wherever you look, your eyes will be hit by the blue of alpine lakes on all sides. This mountain located in Salzburgerland is surrounded by three of the main lakes of the Salzkammergut: Wolfgangsee, Mondsee and Attersee plus Irrsee and Fuschlsee and in clear days you can get to see even Chiemsee in Bayern. Plus the view from the summit (1783m) guarantees the gorgeous mountain scenery of Höllengebirge range, Dachstein Mountains and famous Watzmann.
Good to know
Hiking Is a Dangerous activity. Everyone Is responsible for him/herself. I am not a professional guide.

- IDs
- Hiking poles
- Spikes / gaiters just incase (Idk the conditions there but peak is 1783m so there could still be snow)
- Hiking boots obvs 😉
- Rain jacket
- 49€ ticket just incase
- Food/2 litre water
- Suncream
- snacks / second breakfast
- Download GPX file
- A good smile 😊
- DAV membership ;)

Hi Bogdan, we are waiting for more drivers to join - if you know of drivers in please gently ‘persuade’ them ;-) it would be great if we can get another two cars!

If you’re hiking (or skiing) a lot then it’ makes sense (you don’t want to be paying the several €k fee in the unfortunate event of being helicoptered off a mountain should something go wrong ;-) ) Also, if you want to stay overnight in huts then you might have access to discounts as a DAV member (I believe).

As you said you were new, my question is (bearing in mind there’s no info on your profile so I can’t tell), are you experienced in hiking 1200m elevation and 13km distance? I have to ensure fit with the other participants’ abilities, hope that makes sense. Also: we have waitlisted people wanting join to car, would you be able to let them join your car? Thanks!

Ok, it looks like we have enough cars now! If you know you can handle the distance and elevation (I mention since you said you are a newcomer, this is not a beginner’s hike and I am obliged to make sure this works for the whole group), if you’re ok with all that then ofcourse please feel free to join the event with The Doge :-)
