Description:
from Grainau/Hammersbach climb through the Höllentalklamm to the Höllentaleingangshütte. from there via the Knappenhäuser and the Hupfleitenjoch up to the Kreuzeckhaus and from there via the Jägersteig back down to the starting point of the tour in Grainau/Hammersbach
author's tip
at this point another tip: directly from the Hupfleitenjoch you can make a short detour to the Schwarzenkopf to the north (approx. 10 minutes walk). From the Schwarzenkopf you have a really (!) worthwhile view into the Höllental and the Zugspitze as well as out into the valley towards Garmisch-Partenkirchen or over to the Kramer massif.
Another tip for those with knee problems who are afraid of a longer descent: the Kreuseckbahn goes into the valley right next to the Kreuzeckhaus - this saves you a good 900 meters of descent.
safety instructions
The tour leads in places along exposed passages where there is a risk of falling. The critical areas are secured with steel ropes (as handrails). However, you should be sure-footed in any case. The tour is also suitable for children aged 12 and over who are experienced in the mountains - appropriate supervision is also recommended here.
Please note: At the start of the hut season in mid-May, there is usually still a lot of snow on the ascent from the Höllentalangerhütte to the Hupfleitenjoch and some bridges have been dismantled. If you are planning a tour before mid-June at the latest, please check the Höllentalangerhütte homepage to see if this section is already accessible.
