Description

Hey guys,

Saturday is the official opening of beautiful Höllentalklamm + Höllentalangerhütte. Let's take advantage of that , enjoy the views of the canyon in the sun, have some nice food at the hut and finish with a swim in Eibsee with a view of Zugspitze. It automatically calculated some T4 areas but really there is nothing more than T2.

I will create a Whatsapp group ca 12 hours before the start of the hike, and it's great if you can join it for easier communication.

Transportation self-organized to starting point

I will arrive directly to the starting point of the hike (train stop: Hammersbach Zugspitzbahn, Grainau). If you go from Munich, I recommend taking this train (Deutschland-Ticket is valid). To be clear, I will meet you at the final stop, not in Munich.

You can also arrive by car. Please note that both the road and the parking spots in Hammersbach/Garmisch can be very crowded on weekend, so plan big time margins for that.

Return

We expect to arrive at Eibsee around 15:00 - 16:00 and stay 1 - 2 hours for swimming in the lake, but feel free to leave earlier if you want. Bus to Garmisch Hbf leaves every hour. Total travel time from Eibsee to Munich Hbf is 2h16min. However, note that unexpected events causing delays may happen and be prepared for that.

Good to know

Other Essentials

  • Drinks and snacks for the way
  • Lunch (either bring, or buy at Höllentalangerhütte)
  • Cash for Hut + Höllentalklamm (6 Euro Entrance Fee, 2 Euros if DAV Member)
  • DAV Member Card if you have (discount for Höllentalklamm)
  • Swim gear (see above)
  • Rain/sun protection according to the latest weather forecast
  • Alpenverein / mountain insurance recommended

Disclaimer: Please note that this list is not exhaustive and every participant should conduct their own research and self-assessment before joining. Additionally, please be advised that I am not a mountain guide and hiking can be risky. Therefore, you are responsible for your own safety and must familiarize yourself with the route and its requirements. I recommend downloading a map and bringing a cell phone for emergencies
