Route: https://schweizmobil.ch/en/hiking-in-switzerland/route-75/stage-4, plus additional parts at the start and the end of the hike. From the website: The last section of the Schanfigger Höhenweg is full of contrasts: sun-drenched mountain meadows, pretty Alpine huts, steep ravines and wild mountain streams. The tour offers lovely views and leads along the hills of the Schanfigg valley basin down to Maladers.
Pace: Moderate (on the faster side).
Starting point: Peist, Schulhaus bus station
End point: Chur train station. It's also possible to finish the hike earlier in a village of Maladers and take a bus from there - this saves around 4km walking and 400m of descent.
How to get there: Train IC 3 to Chur departs from Zurich HB at 7:38. Change in Chur to bus B direction Arosa, Bahnhof.
How to get back: Train from Chur.
What to take: According to SwissTopo the route goes right at the border of snow. Therefore, we might encounter some snow patches. If you have hiking poles or microspikes, I would recommend taking them. Apart from that: regular hiking equipment, in particular comfortable shoes (hiking boots or trail running shoes); food - we’ll have picnic lunch somewhere along the way; water; sunscreen; sunglasses; rain jacket (small chance of rain).
Disclaimer: I'm not a guide - everyone hikes at their responsibility and risk.
