Kampenwand (1,664 m) is one of the most visited mountains in Chiemgau Alps. It has the largest summit cross in Bavarian alps. The summit cross was erected in 1950 to commemorate Chiemgau victims of the two world wars. In 2003, a solar system was established for the lightening of the cross. The illustration of the cross takes place on a few days per year.
We can meet in front of Pl. 8 in Munich ostbahnhof at 06:50AM. We will take the BRB RE5 train to Prien am Chiemsee and then to Aschau as shown in the Itinerary below. If the platform changes, I will update you accordingly. It is also fine if you wish to join the group from some other train station along with way.
