Description

Hike to Lamsenjochhütte (T3):

Pleasant hike from Eng to Lamsenjochhütte with stunning views at the foot of Lamsenspitze and lunch at the Lamsenjoch hut with excellent cooking. For this hike, you need regular hiking equipment, a good spirit and no car at all: The starting point of this hike is accessible via public transport, taking the train from Munich to Bad Tölz & Lenggries and continue by bus to Eng:

Bahnhof, Lenggries, Abfahrt 08:18 Uhr mit Bus 369 nach Hinterriß Eng (Tirol) Gasthaus, Österreich, Ankunft 09:20
https://www.alpenverein-muenchen-oberland.de/umwelt/mit-bahn-und-bus-in-die-berge/bergbus-eng-karwendel

Just the bus ride to Hinterriß via Sylvensteinsee is a treat! Make sure to get a window seat in the bus, specifically once entering the Risstal and Ahornboden, an alpine agricultural landscape that has been reportedly around for more than 600 years.

From Gasthof Eng, we are heading on a steep path to Binsalm (1st possible stop) and continue onwards to Lamsenjochhütte (2nd stop) and have our lunch break there. The return path is identical to the uphill part, however the return route allows to take a detour to Engalmen (3rd possible stop) where we can shop for cheese or go for a coffee or a beer.

Via Ferrata / Klettersteig Option for beginners (B/C = T6):

For this option, interested hiking buddies will continue from Lamsenjochhütte, tackling the Via Ferrata "Brudertunnel" to experience an even better view. This part of the tour is a Via Ferrata roundtrip to Hochnissl / Vomper Loch and an optional leg to Lamsenspitze. Both vie ferrate are classified as B/C and B and if you want to do one or both Vie Ferrate part, please mention it in the comments and contact me stating your name via whatsapp under 0162 652 0031.

If you are a via ferrata beginner with no experience, please read further because this part is meant for you:

The necessary equipent (Alpinhelm, Gurt, Klettersteig-Set) can be rented at DAV Shop in Munich https://www.alpenverein-muenchen-oberland.de/dav-ausruestungsverleih-in-muenchen/online-buchung

If you are a beginner, please make sure to have the following items with you:

another suggestion for all participants departing from Munich ( it came up in a chat): - if you buy a group ticket and gather the group at Hauptbahnhof, thats going to save quite some money.

Hi to all, given the number of registrees for the Via Ferrata part, we will have a group heading for Lamsenspitze (two Vie Ferrate classified as B and B/C ) and a beginners group, taking the hochnissl exit after passing through the tunnel (Class B/C).

Hi to all, apparently there is quite some demand for a hike like this. We have 16 participants and 5 on the waiting list, so we are looking at 21 hikers and most of them are experienced. Therefore, we will do the hike together but at Lamsenjochhütte, we are going to split in separate via ferrata groups of 6-8 hikers per group. If nobody objects to that, I will open the event to 20 participants

Hi Tilman, we have been on Lamsenspitze today. Be aware that currently there is a big patch of ice just after the short ferrata descending for the “Scharte”. We had to get down on the scree to reach the Lamsenjochhütte, as crossing the ice without spikes wasn’t looking too safe

Hi to all, as Mohamed has repeatedly asked if anyone wants to use public transport and he has not received any feedback. Please consider using public transport and refer to the link in the event description. The easiest way to make it to Eng is to buy a Bayernticket at 29,-Euros and have up to 4 more people joining this train ride with BRB for 10,- per person which is 13,80 per person. It does not get any more affordable.... Entering the Bus at Lenggries train station, there will be an additional charge because the bus is crossing the border to Austria. If you are going by car, make sure to have at least a quarter of gas in your tank and keep 7 Euros entrance fee handy, to be paid at the hinterriss turnpike.

Latest Update: We do have four (!) groups now and luckily, Praveen, Behzad and Fernando have all agreed to lead one group - thank you guys for making this happen! The fastest Via Ferrata team should be starting first and the beginners team (including me) will be the last to get going. Weather forecast for the weekend is more and more promising and we can expect decent conditions on saturday
