Description

Before joining please read the full description and contact me if we have never hiked together.

T5 hike with approx. 2000m elevation gain. The last 10m to the summit (non mandatory) are climbing III with a fixed rope: we will go till the base of the summit and then it will be evaluated if the last 10m can be done.

Some reports can be found here:

https://www.hikr.org/dir/Fleckistock_Rot_Stock_1672/ped/

Grade:

-        Hiking part: T5, which means: often pathless, individual easy climbing sections, exposed, challenging terrain, steep cliffs, bare glaciers and firn slopes which posed some risk of falling.

-        Last 10 m to the summit: PD - III

Further details about the hiking grade can be found on SAC website:

https://www.sac-cas.ch/fileadmin/Ausbildung_und_Wissen/Sicher_unterwegs/Sicher_unterwegs_Wandern/2020_Berg_Alpinwanderskala_EN.pdf

Starting and arrival point: Göschenen, Abzw. Voralp  https://maps.app.goo.gl/bLyMLDVBxQBTPaiaA

Starting time: 8:00.

How to get there: only by car (the first public transportation From Zürich arrives at 9:27 which is too late to complete the hike)

What to take: hiking equipment warm enough for 3000m altitude, proper shoes (hiking boots or trail running shoes), food, enough water, sunscreen, sunglasses, tick spray, rain jacket.

Pace: the route is long, the pace must be fast enough to complete the hike before in a reasonable time, the plan is to have a pace of 500/600 m elevation gain per hour, please join only if you can keep this pace and you are comfortable doing a T5 hike.

GPX track: please download it and then upload it on your mobile by using your preferred map app and make yourself familiar with the hike like if you have to do it on your own.

Disclaimer: I'm not a guide - everyone hikes at their responsibility and risk. Before joining, be informed of the length and technical grade, study the hike like if you have to do it on your own and consider that this is not a hike for beginners.

Hey Gianni ! I’m not an experienced climber, but have no issues for everything but the last 10M. What gear do I need for a PD - III ?

Hi Gianni, is it worth taking crampons or we don't expect that much snow/ice on the way?
