A classic hike. I’ve done it before, but only in winter, so this will be a new experience for me. We‘ll take it easy and move as a group, with a steady pace of around 400m/hr. This is a steady pace and means we’ll take minimum breaks during the hike up.
On mobile now, so I’ll add details later.
We'll take the RB 66 at 7:59, platform 28. I have a tight connection, so I will probably be there right on time, so join the WhatApp and we'll connect on the train. Then we have a bus connection to Walchensee Ortsmitte, Kochel a. See (Bus 9608). Should be on the trail by 9:45 or so.
Like I said, we'll move as a group, but the group will move at a steady pace of 400m/h. This is a steady pace with minimum breaks, so please make sure you have the fitness before joining.
The whole hike should be about 6 to 7 hours, so we should be back to the starting point around 1600 or 1700 pretty easily. Return buses are every half hour until 1930, then every hour, so no worries there.
I'd like to plan on swimming, so bring a suit and towel if you'd like to join. The return bus at 18:00 gets us back to Munich at 20:00 with a single transfer, so thats probably the plan. But after the hike, the swim and everything is optional, so people can split off if they like.
This is a very doable for a fit beginner. You'll need a head for heights, but the worst bits have a safety rope. As long as you have the fitness, it shouldn't be a problem. It will be busy in all likelihood, so bring a good humor. Hopefully the ridge is less busy then the hike up.
The weather looks good. Sunscreen and lots of water is highly recommended (at least 2L). Not bringing rain gear is the best way to make it rain, so at least an umbrella is also recommended.
There is a hut on the way, so we will also likely stop for a drink and a snack, but bring enough food for the day just in case.
Other than that, I am not a guide, just organizing the train and whatnot, so I'm not responsible for your safety---you are.
Hiking can be risky and you should be prepared as if you were doing the hike alone.
