Stunning hike up the Sustenpass, turning right at Steingletscher See, then headed up a very steep section towards Tierberglihütte and the mind-blowing Steingletscher. One of my favorite glaciers in the Alps, a hidden gem off the beaten path! There are rumors that this glacier is very accessible and can be licked, but that would be ridiculously dangerous and highly not recommended. The top section is steep with some exposure, but still rated T3.
Swimming in the lake and the streams is possible, even a shower in a waterfall right under the glacier. Be warned, it's a brave swim.
This is my first event as an organizer, but I am very experienced in the mountains and have done this route many times. #notAMountainGuide #joinAtYourOwnRisk
Pace will be 450m-ish an hour (maybe a bit more) to allow for some time for exploring and a chill lunch at the top.
The last bus leaves from Steingletscher at 17:20, Saageli 17:29. The pace will ensure we make that connection, if people join with public transport. Carpool is recommended! As this is an out & back, if you're not fast enough, we will collect you on the way back. You can shorten the hike by taking the bus down from Haltestelle Steingletscher, Sustenpass, that should make it very manageable.
