1) The destination is reachable by bus as well as by a lift, so expect a lot of people during the peak season.

2) Some part of the ascent has a lot of ants, so a full pant will be preferable.

An easy hike to probably the only building left from Third Reich-era, which offers nice views to Berchtesgaden mountains and Konigsee.

Reaching the start point: The best way to reach from Munich is to take Meridian train from Munich to Freilassing, and then BLB S4 from there to Berchtesgaden. The start point is approximately 3 km from here, so one could either walk or take the bus 838.

Ascent: After getting off the bus stop, follow the road after roundabout for 100 meters, and then turn right to a mountain road. Almost immediately, you see a bifurcation, turn right here, even though the route on the left side looks more prominent. This part may be a bit wet. Soon, it merges into a wide mountain road, which we follow for a while. One could already see the eagle's nest from here. Turn left (towards the direction of eagle's nest) and follow the forest road for some time before emerging into another wide mountain road. This mountain road is to be followed for a while through a series of zig zags, and then we need to take a very narrow forest path. This path is quite steep and slippery at some places. Follow this all the way, until it reaches an asphalt road, where lies the bus stop. From here there is an easy zig zag to the eagle's nest.

Descent: Descent is along a wide zig zag route, which has almost no bifurcations, so one just needs to follow it all the way.
