A visit of the largest ice cave of the world, Eisriesenwelt, combined with a hike before and after to warm up form the freezing temperatures.

Most tourists take the cable car to avoid hiking, but one should at least make it to entrance of the cave (ca 660m gain), within the cave (+134m gain) and Achselkopf (ca +180m gain) after the guided tour (ca 12€). The hike to Hochkogel is optional.

In the cave a powerful flashlight is useful.

Photography is officially not allowed. Stay at the end of the group, don't fall behind and make sure the guide does not see you taking pictures...

If you continue above the cave, it is recommended to bring a helmet, and possibly gloves for the ropes.
