Wendelstein (1,838 m) is one of most popular peaks in Bavarian Prealps, thanks to the cable car and cogwheel train. Because of its exposed position it offers a very good view into the Bavarian Alpine foothills and can be seen the other way round in a wide radius.
Route: Start of 4 – 5 hours hike at Brannenburg (500
m) to Wendelstein
(1838 m).
From Wendelstein, you have the option of
either walking down to Osterhofen (Oberbay) or talking the cable car down.
If you choose to walk down, you would need to give yourself at least 2.5
hours to walk down to the train station.
Alternatively, if you choose to stay
longer on the mountain, check what time the last cable car down will be, when planning the hike.
